About This Program
Discover Makeup Artistry, Character Design, and Visual Storytelling
Makeup & Stage Design Club gives students an age-appropriate introduction to makeup artistry, character styling, and stage presentation. The program focuses on creativity, design, hygiene, and visual storytelling rather than beauty standards or appearance pressure.
Throughout the program, students will explore how makeup and styling are used in theater, film, dance, performances, photography, fashion, and cultural celebrations. They will learn basic concepts such as color theory, face shape, symmetry, shading, highlighting, costume coordination, and character design.
Students will participate in hands-on projects such as designing stage looks on face charts, creating color palettes, practicing safe brush techniques, learning about skincare and hygiene, designing character makeup, and coordinating makeup with costumes or themes. Depending on school policy and age group, practice can be done on paper face templates, mannequin heads, or self-application with parent-approved materials.
The club emphasizes safety and respect. Students will learn proper sanitation, no sharing of certain products, allergy awareness, gentle application, and consent before applying anything to another person. All materials should be school-appropriate, non-toxic, washable, and suitable for student use.
Projects may include designing a theater character, creating a festival look, planning a runway makeup concept, building a hero or villain face chart, or matching makeup to a costume design. Students will learn that makeup can be a creative art form used to support storytelling, performance, and personal expression.
By the end of the program, students will complete a small design portfolio with face charts, color plans, and character concepts. The final showcase may include a visual presentation, themed design board, or stage-style character concept.
