About This Program
Club Description
Xtatic Animation Club is a hands-on creative program where middle school students learn how to bring stories, characters, and ideas to life through animation. Using drawing, stop-motion photography, and beginner-friendly digital tools, students will explore the creative and technical process behind animated films. Members will learn fundamental animation concepts such as movement, timing, frame-by-frame storytelling, character expression, and visual composition. They will also practice developing original ideas, creating characters, writing simple stories, drawing storyboards, recording dialogue and sound effects, and editing their work into a finished video. No previous experience in drawing, animation, filmmaking, or digital art is required. Activities are designed for beginners, and students may work with simple drawings, paper cutouts, clay, building blocks, everyday objects, or digital images. Creativity and a willingness to experiment are more important than advanced artistic ability. The club will begin with short, accessible projects such as flipbooks, bouncing-ball animations, and stop-motion scenes. Students will then work in small production teams, taking on roles such as writer, director, animator, designer, voice actor, or editor. Through this collaborative process, they will develop creative thinking, visual communication, organization, problem-solving, patience, and teamwork. By the end of the program, each team will plan, produce, and present an original animated short film. The club will conclude with a screening where students can share their completed work and celebrate the creative process together. Xtatic Animation Club is ideal for students interested in art, storytelling, movies, technology, performance, or simply discovering a new way to express their imagination.
